In a world where digital communication reigns supreme, it’s easy to overlook the importance of faxing. However, eFax is here to shatter those perceptions and revolutionize the way faxing is seen.

Having been around since 1995, eFax is one of the industry’s most renowned faxing services. With its modern approach to faxing, the company has created a basic yet effective way to send and receive faxes.

Furthermore, eFax’s mobile apps and advanced tools make this mode of communication utterly versatile and convenient.

With prices starting from $15.83 per month, the provider offers lifetime cloud storage and e-signature software, among many other tools. The cherry on top is that the first month can cost as low as $5, allowing users to test the platform for themselves before fully committing to a plan.

For eFax, simplicity is the key – sending and receiving faxes couldn’t be easier. The interface allows users to upload, view, and manage faxes from anywhere with an internet connection. It’s also straightforward to sort and organize incoming and uploaded faxes due to the custom-made folders.

When it comes to saving faxes, eFax goes above and beyond by offering lifetime storage. What’s more, the provider ensures that every step of the process is streamlined and environmentally conscious by integrating digital signatures directly into documents.

eFax understands the paramount importance of digital security in today’s world. Using end-to-end encryption during every transmission, the service makes sure that users’ information is kept in a safe place. Adding to the security measures, efax also provides multi-factor authentication and is compliant with data regulations such as HIPAA and GDPR.

Sending and receiving faxes

Faxing with eFax couldn’t be more straightforward, whether it be on a browser, desktop, or in the mobile app.

There are a number of different faxing options to choose from. For instance, when sending a fax via email, it’s possible to associate up to five different email addresses to a single account. Switching between these while faxing is simple, as it only takes selecting which address to use in the specific fax.

In fact, the online fax composer is the most foolproof way of faxing. Not only does the program support various file types for attachments, but it also allows for large file sharing. Each fax can hold documents of up to 3GB.

Faxes can also be customized. Adding up to 50 names to the recipient list, creating a cover page, or selecting the quality of the attachments for quicker sending, is easily done. A preview of the final result is shown during the process, so users can see the work in progress.

eFax takes convenience a step further with its mobile apps. Despite having a simply designed interface, the app arranges everything in a clever way and enables ease of accessibility. In other words, it takes minimal effort to find and use all of its features.

The Windows and macOS desktop client, eFax Messenger, is essentially an advanced version of the web platform. With its more appealing interface, eFax Messenger brings extras such as cover page templates, various stamps, built-in scanning, editing, and printing options. It also has a customizable signature tool and – most importantly – the ability to import the contact list of the computer’s default email client.

The same ease of use applies to the iOS and Android app, too. With a minimalist interface, it highlights incoming faxes via push notifications, allows users to add attachments from various cloud storage apps, and new faxes can be saved as drafts.

To top it off, the apps allow for full mobility of the service as they provide access to all features of the web version.

Getting started

Whether users already possess a fax number or are creating one for the first time, eFax makes sure that everything is set up in an instant. However, It’s good to know that it’s necessary to provide a valid credit card and the usual data to activate the account.

Unfortunately, no physical fax machines can be hooked up to the system. To compensate for this, several integrations with other solutions are availabe.

The mobile app is compatible with the most popular cloud storage apps like Dropbox, iCloud, and Google Drive, while the desktop software can integrate with Microsoft 365 and electronic signature software like jSign and many others.

When it comes to selecting the phone number associated with the new account, eFax has no limits. By default, the company offers local numbers that can be filtered according to area, state, or ZIP code, but there’s also the option to opt for either toll-free or international numbers.

Thankfully neither toll-free numbers nor international fax numbers require users to pay extra, since the creation of the new account is covered by the setup fee. This fee also includes all the costs of porting an existing fax number. However, unlike when you create an account from scratch, ported numbers are only associated with the new eFax account after the company officially receives it from the previous service provider.

Having a plan specifically designed for regulated industries is also an innovative step eFax has taken. This is the eFax Protect plan, which helps businesses and individuals keep on top of regulations with its HIPAA compliance and BAA provision. For those in need of more specific features, it’s also possible to request eFax Corporate, a customizable solution perfect for larger companies.

It’s worth noting that there’s a $10 setup fee for every plan users choose. Furthermore, all plans offer additional page limits that come with a $0.10 fee per page.

Since there’s no free plan available, eFax rewards its customers by charging only $5 for the first month of use. With this, users get to take eFax for a test drive and find out what the service is truly capable of, completely risk free.

Regardless of which method, questions will be answered courteously and quickly. In fact, when testing the responsiveness of the support, we had our questions answered in mere minutes, and the agents proved to be reliable and helpful.

On this page, everything is organized so that answers can easily be found in no time at all, with practically any potential question answered.

Bottom line

With features ranging from intuitive online faxing and mobile apps to advanced security and several integrations, eFax proves itself to be a comprehensive solution that empowers businesses and individuals alike.

While its dashboard may be outdated, it’s still logically organized and intuitive, allowing for seamless navigation of the platform. The fact that users can send large files via eFax’s secure environment, create electronic signatures with ease, and store an unlimited amount of fax documents in the cloud makes this service one to recommend.

Cost-effective prices and customizable plans are also important aspects of the service to highlight.

Its constant commitment to innovation and dedication to simplifying the sharing of information in the fast-paced digital space are key for succeeding in the faxing industry. In the end, eFax completes its goal, and executes a seamless modernization of the concept of faxing.

I’ve been a customer of eFax for a while now and find that it is super easy and convenient to use. I’m super busy, so I really like that I am able to fax and sign documents on the go from my iphone, which is a bonus. Talk about saving a bunch of paper and ink as well!

Ive been a customer of Efax for about 10 years. I recently learned they have been ripping me off for years. last month I “inquired” to American Express about a $10 charge and when Efax gets an INQUIRY they cancel your service. I called right away and I was told I can re-activate it for an even better rate of $169/yr (they were charging me $220 for YEARS!) Then a few days later I was charged $220 AGAIN. I called once again and was told they would credit my EFAX account (not my credit card) $36. What am I going to do with a STORE CREDIT at EFAX? I would never ever exceed the 200 page limits — i use the fax like once a month. If my account wasn’t accidentally canceled I would have never known that I was being charged MUCH MORE than the rest of the world for a better service package. When I called to rectify the issue the CUSTOMER SERVICE (HA!) “supervisor” told me too bad and that is all he’s going to do. This is criminal and I will be reporting them to every single governing agency. OH and PS: the hold time to reach a person was 35 minutes. DO NOT USE EFAX! THEY ARE CRIMINALS! Im forced to rate with stars but they deserve ZERO stars
